Nourishing your body and nurturing the earth min read

Roots Regenerative are on a mission. They wish to heal the environment through improvements in cattle grazing to drive soil health.

Why?

Healthier soils increase the ability to draw down carbon, increase ground cover, retain water and enhance biological diversity.

Healing the soil

Focusing on the principles of soil health all comes back to grazing management. We look at things like minimising soil disturbance. We're working with nature by allowing livestock to organically and naturally fertilise the soil; we don't have to bring outside inputs in.

So it's helping to heal the soil and rebuild soil health whilst also fighting against climate change.

Everything starts with the soil

Everything starts with the soil. Healthy soils grow healthy plants. Healthy plants grow healthy animals and healthy animals grow healthy people and communities.

If you have a healthy soil, the plants are thriving, the animals grazing in those plants, they’re thriving.

More than just walking steaks

"Cows are grazing activists".

What they do every day is good for the environment. Livestock contributes to building soil health, increasing biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and harnessing the water cycle.

When you consume beef that comes from this type of production system, not only are you nourishing your body, but you're nurturing the earth at the same time.

What is rotational grazing

Rotational grazing is when you continuously move your cattle from paddock to paddock, stimulating each paddock. It's improving the environment, soil health, and biodiversity.

The cattle are quiet and cooperative. We can see they're happy as they're comfortable being close to us when we're in the paddocks.

Being here for generations to come

The strategic focus of the business is to drive animal and staff welfare alongside improving land to ensure business viability for future generations.

Regenerative farming

Through a regenerative production system like this one here. You know, these livestock are contributing towards building soil health, increasing biodiversity, sequestering carbon, harnessing the water cycle.

When you consume beef that comes from this type of production system, not only are you nourishing your body, but you're nurturing the earth at the same time.

The regenerative community

There’s an energy around the regenerative community that’s very contagious.

How they work together and come together for field days and community events is something really powerful. That willingness to share their knowledge and their ideas, their wins and losses is something that creates a real atmosphere.

Caring for the Planet

Caring for the environment means caring for our community. Our team believes they contribute to the community when engaged and working for us in regenerative agriculture. They feel they are giving back to their community, creating a future for themselves, their families, and future generations. Caring for the planet for our team is the reason they're here.

We have team members from different areas of the country and trades who choose to work with us because they value what we do.

Animal Wellbeing

Animal well-being is a high priority amongst our producer community. They want animals to be free to explore and experience their natural behaviours.
Producers are passionate about low stress livestock handling and harnessing the role of animal welfare and the farming community.
